First off, Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends!
Second, what a hectic month!
So I was just about to type up one of my final chapters of my NaNoWriMo Novel: Twenty-Seven and I remembered (Yay! I forgot last month!) that today was indeed the last Friday of November. The year has come to an end so fast! Christmas madness is just around the corner. Looking forward to spending time with the family over the Christmas break. I will be putting my writer's cap up for a bit during December. I have other creative stuff planned.
Writing this month has been full on. I have my 50,000 word goal for NaNo. I smashed it. I have had no control over what has happened. My characters have had free reign and they have a pretty incredible story. I started the month with a blank notebook and now it's almost full. I take it with me everywhere, even if I know I will have no time to write. The notebook goes too! It has been my shadow. I have planned nothing. My characters even named themselves. As I am winding down the story, tying up loose ends, trying to guess what the ending will be like, I have enjoyed writing it and I will miss it. Once the last words are penned, their story will go on it doesn't stop. One last thing, Twenty-Seven isn't in a series BUT I may do a spinoff Novella at a later date with a few of the characters.
What I can tell you so far:
Title: Twenty-Seven
Genre: Romance, though not your typical boy meets girl romance.
Rating: YA(Young Adult)/NA(New Adult). I'm saying that because YA readers can read it, there is nothing in it to say they can't. When it comes to print I dare say it will be NA as it contains swearing and my characters are Adults. They act like Adults. Talk like Adults. They. Are. Adults.
Emotional status: Rollercoaster. This is your warning.
Shock factor: High. (My mum who is a whiz at picking up what will happen next totally missed one of the biggest shocks of them all. But hey, Spoiler.)
Publishing date: In the New Year sometime. (Fingers crossed.)
Twenty-Seven isn't a light read. It's emotional. There is mystery. There is crime. If you're after a light-hearted romance read, this story isn't for you. I have enjoyed making these characters come to life and they play their roles brilliantly. Once I finish the last few chapters, it will be shelfed for a month or two so then I can go over it with a fresh mind. I might rope a friend into doing some editing for me, seeing if it all flows.
Until next time:
